Juniors 7+ Years
What is Junior Tang Soo Do and how will it help?
Tang Soo Do is a Traditional Korean Martial Art which incoporates hand, feet and self-defence techniques.
Our Junior Tang Soo Do program is specifically aimed to make every class enjoyable and suitable for each child and will help your child develop much more than just fitness. Whilst having fun and making friends, the benefits include gaining confidence, developing balance and co-ordination and learning self-defence, discipline and respect; all skills which will help them develop in what ever they chose to do in the future.
Being aware of the differences in how we learn, depending on our age and personal qualities, our instructors aim to make every class enjoyable and suitable for each child. Similarly to our little PUMA program, our Junior syllabus includes gradings & awards; mixing the teachings of traditional martial arts with fun and games in an active learning enviornment. Suitable for children from 7 years, our Juniors will not only develop their skills in the traditional martial art but will gain confidence and awareness of surrounding issues such as bullying and stranger awareness.
What will my child experience?
The Tang Soo Do syllabus for children is identical to that of the adults, however we have broken down the first few belts and inject much more fun into the lessons!
Our instructors understand that childrens attention span is generally shorted than adults and therefore will break down the lessons mixing games with traditional line work and pad work. Each aspect has a focus whether to improve fitness, flexibility strength, co-ordination or just confidence.
Our juniors love to spar (non-contact fighting) where the aim is to develop control, speed and techniques. We try to incorporate sparring sessions every few weeks
How can I tell if my child is progressing?
Junior students will progress the same as adults, therre are different coloured belts for each level and in order for anyone to progress they need to take a grading - this can be a huge confidence boost! These are organised roughly every 3 months however it is normally recommended that a child would grade every 2 (so every 6 months). These gradings will cost £29 which will include the new belt and certificate
